Position Overview
About Code:You
Code:You encompasses Code Louisville and Code Kentucky, and is part of KentuckianaWorks—a non-profit workforce organization. The program aims to equip Kentucky residents with software development skills to secure entry-level tech positions. Code:You supports participants through training, mentorship, career preparation, and connections with employers. Aiming to foster diversity, Code:You builds a supportive learning community that inspires participants to excel in tech careers.
Role Summary
This is a new role for the Code:You made available through several grants, which which specialize in helping graduates of the program transition into the workforce through the development of their portfolios of work. This will include working with participants that have completed a full pathway (course) to develop more projects, as well as to lead group projects that allow multiple graduates to collaborate and get experience in a more real-world environment. The Software Project Manager will also work with non-profit organizations to bring in a “real world” client for Code:You graduates to develop real solutions for. Additionally, this role will develop and lead regular workshops on remote work in the software industry, covering topics such as how to find and prepare for these open roles, as well as a workshop on promoting student portfolios.
The primary responsibilities of the Project Training Specialist are:
- A combination of education and/or work experience in relevant fields such as software/web development, project management, or non-profit work
- Ability to work in and develop a series of projects in multiple programming languages
- Strong comfort with technology and can convey a message that technology is an exciting career pathway to choose.
- Coordinates with many entities including students, non-profit clients, and employers
- Ability to work in a hybrid role (remote and in-person) with comfort in virtual communication tools (e.g., video conferencing, Slack)
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills
Required Skills and Experience
- Background in training facilitation, curriculum design, or software development.
- Proven ability to create inclusive, engaging learning environments for adult learners.
- Strong communication skills, especially in virtual settings (video conferencing, chat platforms).
- Familiarity with workforce development, career services, and employer partnerships.
- Knowledge of software development principles is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Must live in or near Kentucky
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel within the region
Work Schedule and Benefits
Schedule
- 40 hours per week
- Must be available during evening training classes (5:30-8pm Tuesday – Thursday)
- Flexible scheduling, with the option of working four 10-hour days (Monday–Thursday).
- Occasional Friday events may be required.
